September 2017 — Our first destination is Albuquerque, New Mexico from October to December. We will be there for the Annual Balloon Fiesta and the Sisters on the Fly (SOTF) camp rally. The Balloon Fiesta is an annual hot air balloon festival and is a huge event that people come from all over the world to see. We are so excited to see the hot air balloons speckle the valley and skies.
The Sisters on the Fly is a national all women’s camping group that has events, rallies, etc., all over the country. They have been featured on national television, in multiple magazines and so on. The ladies have vintage camp trailers that they renovate and decorate with themes and all the like. They are amazing works of ingenuity and creativity. It will be fantastic to meet loads of Sisters on the Fly camp ladies that are going to be there for balloon event and also have loads of events themselves. They even want to come tour Eleanor!
From there, we will be heading to Palm Springs, California, where Jan and I will participate in the “Annual Snow Bird Migration Ritual” for the first time ever. We will be dodging the winter snow, ice and freezing temperatures that Mother Nature throws at most of us during the winter months. We will be exploring this ritual and seeing what all the hub-bub is about relocating in the winter months to areas of the country that remain about 70+ degrees or more!
We plan to explore Palm Springs, see Bob Hope’s house, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz’s hotel etc. We are not sure how long we will be staying in Palm Springs but are considering leaving from there and heading to Texas and then on to our home state of Missouri. Yeah! We hope to be visiting family, camping, fishing, eating catfish etc.
